Ettifos, a leading provider of connected vehicle and V2X communication solutions, today announced that it has secured a strategic investment from LIG Nex1, a South Korean company developing cutting-edge technologies for both domestic and international defense markets, through the LIG Nex1–IBKC Defense Innovation Fund.
This follows the successful closing of the company’s Series B round in late July, which raised a total of USD 12 million, with participation from LB Investment, L&S Venture Capital, Kyobo Securities, KR Ventures, Medici Investment & IBK Capital, BNK Venture Investment, Evergreen Partners, STIC Ventures, and SL Investment.
The addition of the Defense Innovation Fund, established by LIG Nex1 and IBKC, brings added weight to this round of financing. Its participation reflects a broader push to strengthen domestic capabilities in critical technologies such as communication modem semiconductors, which play an increasingly important role not only in defense applications but also in emerging ICT and mobility markets.
With this funding, Ettifos plans to:
Begin mass production of its C-V2X hardware accelerator semiconductor
Accelerate the development of its next-generation V2X-AIR devices
Establish global production hubs
Drive domestic semiconductor innovation to expand into new markets
Most recently, Ettifos finalized its ESAC (Ettifos SIRIUS Accelerator Chip), powered by Samsung Foundry technology. The chip, a dedicated hardware accelerator ASIC for 5G-V2X and LTE-V2X modems, completed packaging in September 2025 and is now moving toward commercialization.
The company expects to showcase modules and prototypes by the end of this year, with commercial deployment in RSUs and related products due to begin in early 2026.
ESAC is set to become the cornerstone of Ettifos’s product portfolio, powering both On-board Units (OBUs) and Roadside Units (RSUs), while addressing global market demand for advanced V2X infrastructure.
Ettifos CEO Hojun Kim commented: “This investment strengthens our collaborative network with both industrial and defense partners, and marks an important step toward establishing Ettifos as a global fabless semiconductor leader.”
A LIG Nex1 representative added: “Through this investment, we aim to work closely with Ettifos to drive forward ICT convergence technologies, while opening new growth opportunities in both defense and commercial markets.”
With this milestone, Ettifos continues to accelerate its transition into a global technology provider, building on its leadership in V2X communication and semiconductor innovation.
